Anime Breaker Grimoires: the five books, how you unlock them, and the rules that actually matter
Grimoires arrive with the 3 October 2026 build, the one the creator walkthroughs call Update 3 or the Black Clover update. The developer's own confirmation is the experience name, which gained the GRIMOIRES tag that day. The system is five books across four tiers, each one handed over by a Magic Knight quest at the Magic Knights Center in Clover Village, each one levelled by killing enemies in that same zone and the Clover Raid. The one rule worth internalising before anything else: rerolling cannot lower a grade you already hold. No source reviewed here publishes the multiplier a book rolls, so this page states the loop and leaves the numbers marked unconfirmed.
How you unlock a Grimoire
The unlock path is a quest chain, not a gacha. Two independent walkthroughs describe the same five-step structure, and one of them reads the developer's in-game update log out loud while doing it.
The Magic Knight quest line at the Magic Knights Center is the only way to get a Grimoire. Each completed quest pays out one book, and the next quest opens after the previous one is claimed.
Quests are accepted and their rewards claimed at the Magic Knights Center, which also carries what the walkthroughs read out as a new Magical Tasks page. That is where the requirement for the step you are on is stated.
Later steps ask for repeated combat and idle time — one walkthrough reads a step that wants 250 secret-leader kills, 5,400 seconds in game, and a large number of screen taps and stat rerolls. Treat the on-screen counter as the source of truth rather than these numbers.
A Grimoire gains experience by defeating enemies in Clover Village and in the Clover Raid. Kills on any other map do not count, and the walkthroughs note that ordinary enemies pay more per kill than the zone's secret leader does.
Five books, four tiers
The shape the walkthroughs agree on is five collectible books across four tiers, with Awaken as the step that promotes a maxed book. Their descriptions stop at the orientation of each tier — the effect column is genuinely unstated, not summarised.
| Tier | What the walkthroughs say it leans towards | Roll value |
|---|---|---|
| Tier 1 | First book, from the first quest | Not published |
| Tier 2 | Gacha-luck oriented, per the walkthrough | Not published |
| Tier 3 | Gold oriented | Not published |
| Tier 4 | Damage oriented | Not published |
One walkthrough puts the energy book at roughly 3× energy and the damage book at roughly 1.2× damage, and another calls the energy book the one worth saving rerolls for. Those are spoken observations from a single playthrough, so they are direction rather than a value to plan around.
Awaken, and why rerolling is safe here
- · Costs Clover, which drops in the Clover Raid.
- · Sends a maxed book to its next tier.
- · Resets the level to 1, but keeps the stat rolls.
- · The book stays equipped through the promotion.
- · Applies to both Magic stats and Grimoire stats.
- · Cannot lower the grade you already hold.
- · Has a pity system behind it.
- · A Rotation Manager setting can automate it.
Both walkthroughs single out the no-downgrade rule as the reason this system is kinder than the reroll systems in comparable simulators. If you take one thing from this page, take that: you can reroll without protecting a current roll first.
Clover types and the Anti-Magic Wing
Awakening consumes Clover, and the update log read out in the walkthrough lists the types as water (luck), fire (rewards), air (gold), dark (damage) and anti-energy. Which type a given Awaken consumes is stated on the requirement panel in-game. The same build adds an Anti-Magic Wing bag accessory that drops from the Clover secret leader and is described as having six levels — it is a separate item, not a Grimoire.
- Multipliers. No source reviewed here publishes the roll value for any Grimoire, so the 3× and 1.2× figures on this page are spoken observations, clearly marked as such.
- Drop rates and material counts. How much Clover an Awaken costs, and how often the Clover Raid pays out, are not stated.
- Boss stats. Asta's health pool, damage and drop table come from a creator walkthrough, not a developer post. Only the entrance and the named drops are described.
- New codes. The developer's announcement channel was not reachable while this page was written, so no code has been added from an aggregator listing.

Where these descriptions come from
The developer's published contribution is the experience name: the games API read on 5 October 2026 returned Anime Breaker [📖GRIMOIRES] with a build timestamp of 3 October 2026 20:29 UTC, and the same page was still showing the older CREWS/CRAFT tag in Google's index. Everything mechanical on this page is attributed to creator walkthroughs — DomiBlox, “Anime Breaker Update 3 Guide!! Black Clover World 7!! New Grimoires & Stat System!” (2026-10-03) and “Obtaining Broken Julius & ALL Grimories To Complete Update 3” (2026-10-04) — read from the automatic captions, plus a third walkthrough in Thai (2026-10-04) that leads with the same Black Clover, grimoire framing. No figure on this page is presented as a developer value.
